Sarah Blanton, 88, died Wednesday, March 6, in a local nursing home, after an extended illness. She was the daughter of Thomas and Jana Conley Fairchild and was born in Johnson County on July 3, 1879. She was a resident of Oil Springs at the time of her death. Her husband, Sam Blanton, preceded her in death on December 15, 1948. Survivors include three sons, Grover, Tom and Eual Blanton of Oil Springs; one daughter, Mrs. Bert VanHoose of Charleston, WV; 19 grandchildren, 65 great grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren. Additional survivors include one sister, Ellen Blanton of Win and one brother, Henry Fairchild also of Win. Funeral services were held Friday, March 8, in the chapel of the Paintsville Funeral Home with Lonza Reed, J. T. Bailey and Ellis Hamilton officiating. Burial took place in Win with the Paintsville Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
