James Edward "Bill" Cox, 72, of Renshaw Community, Pope County, Ill., died on Monday, January 14, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. James Edward was born April 1, 1935 in Renshaw to Raymond and Della Clark Cox. Survivors include two sons, Jim Cox of Vienna, Billy Cox and fiancé Maranda Wass of Djibouti, Africa; one daughter, Sandy and Dale Dorch of Marion; one brother, Maurice and Lena Cox; two sisters-in-law,
Stella and Verna; three grandchildren, Kaleb, Heather, Brittany; two nieces, Irlis and Val; five nephews, Roger, Dewayne, David, Donnie and Mike. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Ray Cox and one nephew, Doug Cox.

James served his country in the United States ARMY. He was a retired Correctional Sergeant from Vienna Correctional Center where he was employed for 20 years. Funeral services were at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2008 at Aly Funeral Home in Golconda. Interment followed at Cox cemetery in Pope County with Military Funeral Honors conducted by the Golconda VFW Post 9227 and American Legion Post 719.
