He married Shirley Jeanne Rombaut on 25 January 1927 at Columbus, Kansas. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in January 1977.
Arthur joined the U.S. Navy on 2 February 1942 and was honorably discharged on 11 September 1945. After training in the states, he was sent to Canton Island where he spent 3 years. His rank was ACRT - AVIATION CHIEF RADIO TECHNICIAN. Before returning home, he was sent to Hawaii for a short stay, then back stateside for discharge.
After his discharge, he resumed working for OTASCO where he retired from in 1964 and moved to Belen, New Mexico and then to Hemet, California and then back to Roswell, New Mexico. He and Jeanne returned to Columbus, Kansas in 1985 to be nearer to relatives. It was then that Arthur was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. He spent his last years in the care of a nursing home.
Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, his three brothers - William Wesley, Marcus Franklin and Earnest Alexander; three sisters - Iva Pearl, Evoline Elizabeth and Sylvia Rowena. He is survived by four sisters Flossie Basim, Florence Burris, Melva Arabia and Opal Burroughs.
