Lester R. Seitz
YORK - Lester R. Seitz, 89, of Country Meadows at Leader Heights, formerly of Glen Rock, died Friday, December 19, 2008, at his residence. He was the husband of Pearl S. (Fletcher) Seitz, with whom he celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on November 9, 2008.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2008, at the Geiple Funeral Home, Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock, with his pastor, the Rev. John L. Trout, officiating. Burial will be in Trinity U.C.C. Church Cemetery. A visitation with family and friends will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Seitz was born November 3, 1919, in Shrewsbury Township, a son of the late C. Roy and Lina A. (Gehb) Seitz.
He graduated from Glen Rock High School in 1937 and was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. He was employed as a Machinery Builder in the Engineering Department of AMP, Inc. for over 26 years, retiring in 1982. He also operated the former Glen Motors in Glen Rock from 1952 until 1955 with the late Cleatus Miller. He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Glen Rock, the Austin L. Grove American Legion Post #403, the New Freedom VFW Post #7012, the Shrewsbury Lodge #463 Free and Accepted Masons, Tall Cedars of Lebanon York Forrest #30, Harrisburg Consistory Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Zembo Shrine and the York County Shrine Club.
In addition to his wife, he leaves two daughters, Sylvia J. Rosier and her husband, James of York, and Sheila J. Simmons and her husband, J. David of Glen Rock; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a sister, Evelyn I. Seitz.
