George married Elizabeth Jane Rudeman and then they immigrated to New York from England. In 1860 they were living in Geneseo, Livingston Co., New York with their first three sons where George worked as a butcher. By 1870, they had begun farming in Brighton in Monroe Co. and had seven more children. Three more children were born by 1880 bringing the total to thirteen. George died of heart disease, leaving Elizabeth to be a widow for the last 25 years of her life.
