CHICHILTAH — Funeral services for Dora Nez, 85, will be 10 a.m., Monday, Dec. 22, at St. Patrick's Catholic Mission. The Rev. Tim Cervantes will officiate. Private disposition will be in Oak Canyon.
Nez died Dec. 16, 2008, in Gallup. She was born Jan. 18, 1923, in Chichiltah, into the Black Sheep People Clan for the Bitter Water People Clan.
Nez was a lifetime homemaker and rancher. She enjoyed going to rodeos and chapter meetings. She also enjoyed visiting with her nephews and nieces.
Survivors include her brother, Chester Nez of Albuquerque.
Nez was preceded in death by her father, Denet Nez; brothers, Leonard Nez Sr., Francis Nez, Charley Chee Nez, Charlie Grey, Albert Nez; one sister.
Pallbearers will be Leonard Nez Jr., Darrell Nez, Delbert Nez, Damon Nez, Jerome Nez, and Rico Secatero.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Chichiltah Chapter House, following services.
