ALEXANDER: Katheryn Elizabeth Alexander, 79, of Summerville, died on February 12, 2003 at a local hospital. She was born on January 5, 1924 in Summerville, SC the daughter of Joseph and Aletha Harmon (nee Driggers). She was a retired registered nurse. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Gilbert Alexander. She is survived by three sons: Roger Driggers of Bermuda; Joseph Vaughn of Mississippi; Robert Alexander of Summerville; four daughters: Virginia Thomas of Summerville, Mary Slayton of Tennessee, Aletha James of North Carolina and Lavern Driggers; three sisters: Nellie Legette of Summerville; Harriett Le Gette and Ina Smithey both of North Charleston; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Friday, February 14, 2003 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 100 S. Goose Creek Blvd., (Hwy 52) Goose Creek, SC. Family and friends may gather at Salem Baptist Church, 321 Old Summerville Road, Summerville, from 1:00 PM until time of service at 2:00, Saturday, February 15th. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Office of Veterans Affairs, 3346-D Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29405 or Doc Williams SPCA, 431 St. James Avenue, Goose Creek, SC 29445.
