Son of George Corzine and Mary Ann Russell Corzine. Married Holly Lutica Hudson Aug. 8, 1859. Enlisted in 57th NC Infantry Regiment on 7 Jul 1862. Transferred to Co C "Cabarrus Hornets", 33rd North Carolina Infantry Regiment on 11 Apr 1863.

Co C, 33rd NC Regiment participated in the campaigns of the Army of Northern Virginia. The 33rd sustained 75 casualties during the Seven Days Battles, 36 at Cedar Mountain, 8 at Second Manassas, and 41 at Fredericksburg.

It lost forty-two percent of the 480 engaged at Chancellorsville and twenty percent of the 368 men in the Pettigrew - Trimble Charge "Pickett's Charge" on July 3, 1863 at Gettysburg on July 3, 1863.

On April 9, 1865 at Appomattox Court House, Va the 33rd surrendered 11 officers and 108 men. Company C had 14 men remaining.

Pvt. James C. Corzine was one of 108 men and 11 officers who were left of the 33rd NC when the 33rd surrendered at Appomattox. He was paroled at Appomattox after taking the "Oath of Allegiance" and returned to Concord, Cabarrus County, NC. He resumed farming and rearing a family.

Capt. David Morrison Corzine Co C, 33rd NC (Find A Grave #60181592 & #43935926)was Jame's oldest brother and was killed at First Battle of Deep Bottom, VA. Capt. Corzine had led Co C "Cabarrus Hornets" in the Pettigrew - Tremble Charge "Pickett's Charge" against Cemetery Ridge at Gettysburg.

Pvt. Robert Washington Corzine Co C, 62nd NC (Find A Grave
# 59122019) was James next oldest brother. Robert had moved to the Haywood County in the mountains of western North Carolina prior to the war and there he joined Co C, 62nd NC. Robert is buried in the Reeves Family Cemetery near Waynesville in Haywood County, NC.

Grandson of Pvt. Nicholas Corzine, a Revolutionary War Soldier, and Mary Corzine who are also buried at Cold Water Baptist.

James is a cousin to Mary Anna Morrison Jackson the wife of Gen. Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson. They are both buried in Lexington, Va. The cousin to Isabella S. Morrison Hill, the wife of Gen. "D.H." Daniel Harvey Hill who are both buried at the Davidson College Cemetery, Davidson, NC. and also the cousin to Eugenia Erixene Morrison Barringer the wife of Gen. Rufus Barringer, Commander of the 1st NC Cavalry who is also from Concord, NC. Eugenia died in 1858 and is buried at the Memorial Gardens in Concord and Gen. Barringer who died in 1895 is buried at Elmwood Cemetery, Charlotte, Mecklenburg Co., NC.

The three Morrison sisters each married Confederate Generals and their father the Rev. Dr. Robert Hall Morrison was the first President of Davidson College, Davidson, NC.
