"Lota", daughter of Samuel HALEY and Sarah J. FULLER, was born in Ohio. Her name on the 1870 census was Mary E. but the name given by Samuel in his pension application was Elosia Nancy. She married Hendrich Johannus du d'HUY on 25 Oct. 1884 in Parsons, Labette Co., KS. By the 1900 census she was a widow and known as Lota d'HUY, living in Kansas City, MO and working as chief telephone operator. Also living with her were her father, Samuel HALEY and her daughter Vera with Vera's family - husband Marion Spencer ALLEN and son Spencer d'Huy ALLEN. She was called "Lota" in census records and her estate papers. At the time of her death she still owned two lots in Kansas City, MO: Lots 106 and 107, East Ninth Street Addition. - Estate #K16984 R, 3/01/17, Jackson Co ., MO.
