Gene Blair Aiken, 81, widow of James Perry Aiken, died Friday, December 19, 2008, at home surrounded by her family.
Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late Maudelle and Leroy Alexander Blair. She graduated from Furman University, class of 1949.
Gene was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Agape Sunday School Class, Circle #9. She also was a member of Clarice Wilson Garden Club; and enjoyed monthly outings with the Furman Alumni Lunch Group.
She is survived by her three children, Mary Lane Strickland, of Simpsonville; Jimmy Aiken of Surfside Beach; and Sherry Thackston and her husband Rhett, of Greer; three grandchildren, Brittany Strickland, Michael Thackston and Ryan Thackston.
Also surviving are her brother Harry L. Blair and his wife, Donna; and her sister, Mary Martin and her husband, Em.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 22, 2008, at 1 p.m. in the Harper Chapel of First Presbyterian Church. Entombment will follow in the Woodlawn Memorial Park, Remembrance Chapel Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends Monday from 11:30 to 1 p.m. in the church parlor.
