T. Marlene Springer, of Emmitsburg, entered into eternal rest December 20, 2008.

She was the daughter of the late John Henry and Maggie C. (King) Trent.

Mrs. Springer was a member of Elias Lutheran Church in Emmitsburg. She graduated from Emmitsburg High School in 1955, and was a teacher's aid at Emmitsburg Elementary School in the late 1960s. Marlene co-organized the establishment of the Seton Day Care Center in Emmitsburg and worked there until 1981. She was a short order cook at Summit Plaza Restaurant in Blue Ridge Summit from 1982 to 1986, and then worked at Martin's grocery/restaurant in Gettysburg before retiring.

She was predeceased by her former husband, Raymond Springer in 1980, and surviving are six children and their spouses, Bob and Deb Springer of Fairfield, Jess and Lynda Springer of Emmitsburg, Karen and Gene Miller of Orrtanna, Lois and Bryon Short of Fairfield, Connie and Leroy Forsythe of Fairfield, and Linda and Arlis Sowers of Keedysville, MD.

She was one of 20 siblings, survived by Leonard Trent of Hanover, Sarah Green of Emmitsburg, Fred Trent of Hanover, Judy Althoff of Hanover, Linda Lutz of York, and Brenda Shultz of Gettysburg.

Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was also predeceased by an infant son, Samuel Springer, in 1961.

Inurnment was in Emmitsburg Memorial Cemetery.
