Dick was born on Aug. 3, 1925, to Anton and Louise (Oestrich) Mesna in St. Paul. He graduated from Marshall High School in 1943 and from Bemidji State University in 1954.
Dick served his country in the Army during WWII. He was an industrial arts teacher at Eden Valley-Watkins High School for 15 years, retiring in 1980.
He was a member of the Eden Valley American Legion Post 381. He enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing, bowling, and wildflowers.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Penny Barrera; and brothers, Lee and Willard.
