Lewis was the son of Ben Pierson and Myrtle Shivers. He married Nettie Alta Colbert on Oct. 15, 1921 at Scranton, Iowa. They were the parents of Myrtle, Lois, and Lewis.

June 5 1967 - Carroll Daily Times - Jefferson - Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 3, in the Slininger Chapel here for Lewis Harold Pierson, 63, of Des Moines, who died at the Greene County Hospital here June 1.

The Rev. John D. McGowan, minister of the Central Christian Church of Des Moines, officiated. Pallbearers were Murl Brafford, A.E. Moorman, Alva Webber, Robert Harper, Lewis Kendall and Lindsey Nickolson, Wendell Wright was vocal soloist, singing "The Old Rugged Cross", accompanied by Mrs Eldon Kinsman. Burial was at the Coon Rapids Cemetery.

Mr. Pierson, son of Ben and Myrtle Shivers Pierson, was born at Coon Rapids July 26, 1903. He was reared near Coon Rapids and attended school there.

His marriage to Nettie Alta Colbert took place Oct. 15, 1921 at Scranton, and the couple lived at Scranton, Carroll, Boone and Des Moines, during which time Mr. Pierson worked for the Chicago and North Western Railway Company. He was a member of Lodge No 602 Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees and had served as secretary of that organization. He also was a member of the Central Christian Church of Des Moines, serving as a deacon until his recent illness.

Surviving are his wife, three children, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
