Lyle Sherd, 24, died at his home, 637 Cyrus Street, early Sunday morning following a week's illness of streptococcus infection. Surviving are his wife; a step son, Teddy Smith; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. LaVern Sherd; two sisters, Mrs. Roy Martin of Grand Rapids, and Mrs. Lamner Martin; and one brother, Watson Sherd.

He was born in Ionia in 1910 and had lived his entire life in Ionia. He attended the Ionia High School and for several years had been employed at the Ypsilanti Reed Furniture Factory. He was married six months ago, and they had resided on Cyrus street since their marriage.

Funeral services will be held from the home Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock and from the Palo Baptist Church at 2 o'clock. Burial will be at Palo Cemetery.
