John Presley Redmon Gill was the son of Henry T. and Susan P. McQueen Gill. He died at age 44 of consumption (1880 Mortality Schedule, 781.315 Atchison, County, Kansas). He married Elizabeth Caroline Keith (1846 OH-1912), daughter of Simeon Keith and Maria Lampman. They had five children, three of whom died in infancy: George Roscoe (1869-1948), Milton W. (abt. 1870-bef. 1879), William Luther (1870-Unknown), Eva (1872-1872), and John H. (1875-1876). Infants Eva and John H. share their father's tombstone.
