Enlisted In 16-Dec-1861, in Harrisville PA, age 20
Captured at Plymouth, NC, Apr. 20, 1864

He is one of 4 brothers that served in the Civil War.

Pvt. Newton Joseph was the first man killed in action of the 103rd PA Volunteers, serving on the picket line in the Battle of Fair Oaks.

William Joseph died of disease in Washington DC.

Jesse-Leonard-Joseph Company A, 88th Pennsylvania, survived the war.
