Wellston resident George Wayne Davenport died Saturday in Oklahoma City at the age of 54. He was born in Merrick, Oklahoma on October 27, 1946, the son of Arthelle Loyal and Lodeen Hickman Davenport.

He served in the U.S. Army and was a taxicab driver for many years.

His parents and one brother preceded Davenport in death. Survivors include two sons, Terry Davenport of Wellston and Dustin Loyal Davenport of Arizona, two daughters, Kelli Gray of Wellston and Rachel Davenport of Oklahoma City, one brother, Ronnie Davenport of Wellston, two sisters, Nancy Davenport of Asher and Ruth Greenfield of Wellston, special friends, Karen Davenport of Arizona and Sally Thomason of Fallis, six grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.

Viewing will be held at Parks Brothers Chapel in Wellston.

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church, Wellston. Burial will be at Wellston Cemetery. The Rev. Allen Small will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Chandler.
