The funeral service will be in The Church of The Holy Cross, Sullivans Island, Thursday, July 27, 2006 at eleven o'clock. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 o'clock.
Captain Legare was born December 11, 1923, in Sullivans Island, SC, son of the late Rupert Walker Legare and Thelma Coste Legare.
He graduated from George Washington University with an undergraduate degree and two masters in Business and Finance. He also retired from the Citadel as Professor Emeritus.
He was a life long member of The Church of The Holy Cross.
Surviving are his wife, Caroline Smoak Legare of Mt. Pleasant, SC; one son, Robert Walker Legare and his wife, Claire of Surf City, NC; one daughter, Carol Legare Mozingo and her husband, Buddy of Lumberton, NC; eight grandchildren, Alex and his wife, Terri, Clayton and Caroline Mozingo, Mary and Brad Middleton, Robert and Catherine Legare, and three great grandchildren, Ella Grace Mozingo, Ellie and Thomas Middleton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Charleston, Hospice Center, 676 Wando Park Blvd, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464.
