Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Richard and Julia (McCarthy) Kelly.
Dennis was a truck driver with Local 251, International Brotherhood of Teamsters for 19 years. He later worked for the State of Rhode Island Health Department as a fireman for 16 years and retired in 1990.
He was a World War II Navy Veteran and received the Distinguished Flying Cross and three Air Medals.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Laura Roman and Wendy Carrasco, both of Providence, Anita Halko and Pauline Pinto, both of Warwick and John Lessard of Cranston, three grandchildren, Jamal, Jonathan and Jennifer. He was the brother of the late Richard Kelly.
