Charles Francois Egon of Fürstenberg (1658-1663)
Fifth son of Count Egon of Fürstenberg, General of the Imperial Army, Charles-François was born on May 20, 1626 at Heiligenberg Castle (Lake Constance region). He was elected bishop of Metz by the cathedral chapter on September 11, 1658, but was not confirmed by the pope. Elected bishop of Strasbourg on January 19, 1663, he resigned his office as bishop of Metz on September 17 of the same year.
Prime minister of the elector of Cologne, provost of the chapter of this city, he died there on April 1, 1682 and was buried in the cathedral.
He had in commendation the abbeys of Stavelot, Murbach, Ludres and Gorze.
