Ruby S. Durham, 89, formerly of Falls City, died Dec. 18 in Coos Bay.

She was born in Snowball, Ark., to Benjamin and Ida Harguss Taylor.

Ruby grew up in Arkansas and attended school there.

Ruby married Lloyd Durham in Russellville, Ark., on April 24, 1937. They later moved to Falls City in 1968. Ruby and Lloyd were married for 63 years at the time of his death on Dec. 18, 2000.

Ruby later moved to Salem to be near her daughter, Bonnie, and later settled in Coos Bay to be near her daughters, Vera and Joy.

She enjoyed attending the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Falls City and reading her Bible.

Ruby was a very private person. In her earlier years her family remembers her love of the outdoors hunting deer and squirrel. She also enjoyed fishing. She was an avid people watcher.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Bonnie Miller, on Aug. 21, 2006.

Survivors include her sons, Norman Durham and Lloyd Durham Jr., both of Arkansas; daughters, Vera Mattox of Coos Bay, Pat Pruitt of Daranelle, Ark., Mary Irene Lawton of Cottage Grove, Ruby "Beth" Silva of Forest Grove, and Joy Ross of North Bend; 19 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Service was Dec. 22 at Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center and interment was in Upper Falls City Cemetery.
