On March 23, 2008, Leslie Lee McFadden, passed away at Select Specialty Hospital in Midland, Texas.
He was born on October 17, 1933, in Seymour, Texas, to Georgia and Ernest McFadden.
He attended and graduated from McCamey public schools and served in the U.S. Army both stateside and overseas in Germany.
On February 14, 1952, he married Cora "Punk" McFadden in Lovington, New Mexico. Leslie and Punk lived in Rankin, Texas, all of their lives with the exception of the brief times they lived in Lamesa and Sonora, Texas.
Leslie sold livestock feed for 35 years all over the West Texas area and truly enjoyed his feed selling job and all the many friends he made through the years on the road. He and Punk also ran the American Jr. Rodeo Association for 25 years and loved the young cowboys and cowgirls they watched compete at such a high level over the years.
Leslie was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rankin and in the Rankin community over the years, he served on the Rankin Hospital Board, The Rankin Historical Society, the Rankin ISD School Board, the Rankin Economic Development Board, the Rankin Fire District Board and he was a member of the Rankin Chamber of Commerce and the Rankin Lions Club. He also served as a 4-H youth leader and was a volunteer school bus driver for the Rankin High School Band.
He was presently serving as an elected Constable for Upton County and had done so for the past 19 years. Leslie was PRCA gold card member, and as a young man rode both bulls and broncs and judged numerous rodeos.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Charles McFadden; his sister, Della McFadden; and one nephew, Ray McFadden.
He is survived by his wife Punk of 55 years; his two daughters, Audrey Whatley and her husband J. B. and Patty Ezell; one granddaughter, Leslee Ray Cornwell, and her husband Tyson; and one great-grandaughter, Caitlynn Brook Cornwell.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at the First Baptist Church in Rankin with Reverend Jimmy Braswell and Reverend Randy Bush officiating. Burial will follow in the Rankin Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
