The Key West Citizen (FL)- February 7, 2006 > Barbara Jean Allsop was a 30 year resident of Big Pine Key and originally from Jolly Ole England. She was a Key Limey for 20 years and was a light and positive force in everyone's lives. She was director of the Key West Convalescent Home for 12 years and a mother of two, Alison Jane Allsop of Atlanta, Georgia and David Timothy Allsop of Syracuse, New York. Her husband, David M. Allsop still lives in the avenues of Big Pine Key. She was a grandmother, mother, and friend of many all over the world from her travels as an occupational therapist. She had a love for gardens and beautiful music. Barbara was the most loving, caring person and will be missed by all. Her spirit will be remembered and treasured by all that knew her. The memorial service will be held at the Big Pine Methodist Church at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 9, 2006, where she served and attended. To celebrate her life she has requested donations to the Hospice in her name. Keeping Barbara's garden growing, instead of fresh flowers, she asked that live tropical plants be planted in her memory. In Barbara's style, no black clothes are necessary, this is a celebration in Key's colors.
