He was born Feb. 28, 1920, in White Hall, the son of Benjamin V. and Dora Book Anderson. He married Lulu L. Dawdy. She preceded him in death in 1991. He married Vercie Walker in 1992. She survives in Meredosia.
Also surviving is one daughter, Nancy Sue (husband, Bob) Clanton of Jacksonville; one son, Dale (wife, Sue) Anderson of Danville; four stepdaughters, Carol (husband, Terry) Savage of Chatsworth, Ga., Janice Blakey of Myrtle Beach, N.C., Brenda (husband, Gary) Wyatt of Chapin and Reva Magruder of Roodhouse; five grandchildren; 13 stepgrandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 40 stepgreat-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mina Shehorn and Ann Chrisman.
Jim farmed in the Patterson area until 1968. He was employed by the Jacksonville State Hospital as a technician and supervisor for 21 years. He was a member of the UCT and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 29, 2008 at the Mackey Daws Funeral Home in Roodhouse. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, December 28, 2008 at the funeral home. Interment will be at Pine Tree Cemetery near Patterson.
Memorials are suggested to the Liter Baptist Church or the Holiday Hills Free Methodist Church.
