Archibald Campbell entered service as Captain of Co.K,2nd Michigan Cavalry in 1861. He was promoted to Colonel on July 1,1862. At Chickamauga in 1863,he commanded the 1st Brigade,1st Division,Cavalry Corps of the Army of the Cumberland. He was discharged for disability on Sept.29,1864.
