Eleanor Faye Bustin passed away Saturday, February 2, 2002. She was born and raised in Derry, Pennsylvania.

She graduated from Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1941, Johnstown, Pennsylvania.

It was there that she met her husband, Dr. Andrew G. Bustin; They were married in 1944.

She worked as a registered nurse at Presbyterian St. Lukes Hospital, Chicago until the time she started a family. In 1945, they moved to Joliet.

Eleanor was most recently employed as a caseworker with the Joliet Township Supervisor's Office for 27 years. She worked until two weeks prior to her death. She was the recipient of the 1987 Joliet Township Democratic Woman of the Year Award. In November 1999, Eleanor was honored by the Joliet Township for 25 years of compassion and dedication.

She was an active volunteer and supporter of many local charitable organizations throughout her life and held many positions with the Illinois State Medical Auxiliary during the 1960s and 1970s.

Eleanor had a special gift of making anyone and everyone she knew feel as they were the most special person in the world. She remembered names as though she had cue cards and that included all of their family members.

She was always the first to ask how everyone was. When her health began to fail, Eleanor never let on that she didn't feel well. She always wore a smile and continued to work through her illness.

She will always be remembered for her love of flowers, being a great cook, her kind and generous spirit as well as her love for life.

Eleanor is survived by her two sons, Dr. Andrew G. Bustin of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky; Dr. Frederick B. (June) Bustin of Stafford, Virginia, and her daughter, Suzanne F. Bustin of Joliet; three grandchildren, Stephanie, Jeanette and Andy of Louisville, Kentucky; her sister, June Rose Weaver of Pennsylvania. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and many friends who thought of her as their family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Andrew G. Bustin, her parents, Ray and Florence Syster and her brother, Albert.
