Mrs. Margene M. Estes, 91, of Waycross died Monday at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah, (Chatham Co) Georgia. She was born in Fitzgerald, Georgia to the late Oliver Hunter Minter and Bramie Elizabeth Andrews Minter. Mrs. Estes came to Waycross in 1928. She had currently been residing at Baptist Village Retirement Communities since December of 2001.

Mrs. Estes retired in 1978 from Seaboard Coast Line Railroad in Brunswick, Georgia, after 10 years of service as a clerk. She worked prior to that for the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad for 25 years in Waycross, Georgia. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, John R. Minter, Frank M. Minter and a sister, Bramie M. Thompson.

Mrs. Estes is survived by three nieces, Gail T. Edwards of Savannah, Georgia, Clara Margene Thompson of Savannah, Georgia, Elizabeth M. Hutchinson of Meridian, Georgia, a nephew, Wayne Thompson of Brunswick, Georgia and numerous other nieces, nephews and relatives.

A funeral service will be held 3 p.m., Friday in the Mitchell Chapel at Baptist Village. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 2 p.m., Friday in the Chapel.
