St. Louis druggist and proprietor of Alexander's Drug Store. Born in Philadelphia, Mr. Alexander graduated from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and then moved to St. Louis. He became associated with the wholesale drug firm of Bacon, Hyde & Company. While with them, he traveled the state of Missouri on horseback. Not long after settling in St. Louis he began business for himself and in 1878 opened a second store which was later destroyed by fire. In 1892 he bought out the Mellier Drug Company. He was successively president of the American Pharmaceutical Association and the Missouri Pharmaceutical Association and served several years on the State Board of Pharmacy.
