William Richard Ashworth was inducted into the US ARMY July 8 1918 and sent to Ft. Thomas, KY for training. On September 26, 1918, PVC Ashworth sailed form Hoboken, New Jersey to France. He contracted pneumonia and died Oct. 6, 1918. He was buried in an American Cemtery in Lambezellec, Brest, France. His body was disinterred on May 21, 1920, shipped on July 31, 1920 and received by his brother Will Ashworth on Aug. 3, 1920. Buried in Hutton Cemetery.
