Shirley Ann Rockhill, 71, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, at Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka.

She was born Nov. 4, 1937, in Burns to Edward Henry and Anna Ethel Heath Thackeray.

Mrs. Rockhill was raised in Great Bend and attended local schools. After her schooling, she moved to Topeka to attend business school and worked as a secretary. She later returned to Great Bend and worked as a CPA.

On May 23, 1970, she married Clayton Rockhill in Great Bend. They made their home in Garden City. She worked as a doctor's office manager for 17 years in Garden City. The couple retired to Eureka.

She was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her husband; one son, Edward Charles Mayer of Arkansas City; one daughter, Jari Jo Williams of Gold Beach, Oregon; three stepsons, David Rockhill of Springfield, Mo., Vince Rockhill of Wichita, and Lyle Rockhill of Hartford; a stepdaughter, Maretta Huntington of Emporia; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and her sister, June Addision of Eureka.

Funeral was at the Christ Lutheran Church in Eureka. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery.
