She was the wife of George W. Dewey, who died in 2006, and the daughter of James and Eleanor (Kelaher) Cheverie. She was a graduate of Girl's Latin School, Class of 1938. On October 23,1943, she married George W. Dewey of Winsted, CT with whom she shared 63 years of marriage.

She was a parishioner of St. Anne Church, and was active in Our Lady's Sodality, and the Bible Study Group. She was a past president and member of the Littleton Garden Club, a member of the League of Women Voters, and the Littleton Recycling Committee. She was active in the civil rights movement in the 1960's, and was strongly pro-life.

She is survived by her 10 children and their spouses, Annemarie Dewey of New Orleans, LA, George W. "Billy" & Genevieve "Bonnie" Dewey of Littleton, Thomas & Donna Dewey of Ashby, Marylou & Ronald DeFilippo of Ayer, Joan & Lydia Dewey of South Africa, Richard & Margie Dewey of Fitchburg, Michael Dewey of Littleton, and Elaine (Sczylvian) LaMachia of Westford. Beloved "Grammy" to Michelle Bergeron, Kathi Bray, Jason, Alden & Chrissy Dewey, Jessica, Joseph, & James DeFilippo, Andrew Schwerin, Joshua & Rachel McKinnon, Belinda, Jonathan & Gabrielle Bouwer, Rebecca Pitre, Jessica Dewey, Alicia Backholm, Jade Dewey and Stephanie Sczylvian. Special great-grandmother to Ryan, Dylan, Colby, Timothy, Darius, David and Damon. She was a loving sister to Jeannette Rodgers and her husband, Jim of San Diego, CA. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, James S. Cheverie, Jr. and Elaine Heinl; son-in-law, William "Billy" Sczylvian; and grandson, Jonathan Dewey.
