Annie Buchmiller
Milton-Freewater –Annie M. Buchmiller, 87, a resident of Evergreen Rehabilitation and Retirement Center died there Sept. 26, 1997. The graveside service was today in Mount Hope Cemetery, College Place, with Pastor Roger Johnson of Umapine Seventh-day Adventist Church officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Horizon Project or American Cancer Society through Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home, 902 S. Main St., Milton-Freewater.

One of 10 children, Mrs. Buchmiller was born Nov. 26, 1909, in Naper, Neb., to Alvin and Christiana Mertins Kahler. She moved with her family to Stockton, Calif.

She married Rudolph Buchmiller on Feb. 15, 1945, in Lodi, Calif. They moved to Oregon the same year and lived in the Fruitvale area. They worked the fruit harvest in Oregon, Washington and California until ill health forced their retirement. At that time they settled on the property previously owned by Rudy Buchmiller's father, Frederick Buchmiller. Mr. Buchmiller died May 28, 1974.

Mrs. Buchmiller was cared for by Hannah and Gilbert Kralman for 30 years. She had participated in Horizon Project since its beginning. She loved her role as aunt and great-aunt. She loved crocheting and had a large collection of afghans.

Surviving are her nephew, Gilbert Kralman of Milton-Freewater; two nieces, Dorothy Kabanuk of College Place and Ida Palmer of Lynnwood, Wash.; a nephew, Andy Aichele of Hermiston; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by all her siblings.
