She was the first-born daughter of Robert N. and Martha J. (Bryant) Graves. Her mother was the daughter of Jasper and Nancy Jane (Pierce) Bryant.

In 1900, her family was listed on June 18 in the census for the White Oak District 2, Adair County. They lived between Jasper and Nancy Bryant and William and Emma Roy. They were listed as Robert N, head, born May 1872, age 28, married 10 years, farmer; Martha, wife, born August 1869, age 30, had 3 children all living; Donna L, daughter, born December 1890, age 9; Ona C, daughter, born September 1892, age 7; and Cora M, daughter, born October 1894, age 5.

The copy of the 1910 census is impossible to read, but ancestry.com indicates that the family lived in Rowes Cross Roads, Russell County and were listed as:

In 1930, the family was in the 4th District of White Oak, Adair County. They were recorded in the census on April 8 as: Robt N, head, age 58, married at age 18; Martha J, wife, age 60, married at age 20; Dona, daughter, age 39; Emory, son, age 26; and Garnet, daughter, age 18.

SSDI indicates that her last address was in Danville, Boyle County, Kentucky. The Kentucky Death Index indicates it was in Adair County and that she died in Adair.
