George Laurence Sorter was born October 3, 1888, at Germantown, now known as Garland, and passed away at the Bryan Memorial hospital, Lincoln, July 5, 1931, aged 42 years, 9 months and 2 days. He was the fifth child of Elijah and Elizabeth Sorter. Laurence lived and made his home on the old farm home near Garland except for a few years when he took up a homestead in Oklahoma.

He leaves to mourn his loss three brothers, Delbert E., of Forgan, Okla., Wilson A. of Benham, Texas, and Hobert B. of Lincoln; and three sisters, Mrs. Olive C. Elwood, Mrs. Elmay M. Merritt and Mrs. Daisy A. Fry, all of Lincoln. He also leaves four nieces, three nephews and a large circle of friends.
