Louis Efta, 81, of rural Red Lake Falls, MN died on Friday, January 28, 2000 at Roseau Area Hospital. Arrangements with the Petterson Funeral Home in Red Lake Falls.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Terrebonne, MN Tuesday, February 1, 2000 at 11:00 AM with Father Tim Bushy Officiating. Burial will be held in the St. Anthony Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 5 – 8 PM with a 7:30 prayer service and also one hour prior to services on Tuesday all at the St. Anthony Church in Terrebonne.

Louis "Al" Alex Efta was born October 8, 1918 in Greenbush, MN son of Joseph B. and Victoria (Blawat) Efta. He grew up and attended school in Greenbush, MN and Wiboux, MT. Following his education he farmed in Wiboux and Greenbush. On November 19, 1946 he was united in marriage to Clara G. Hanke at Little Falls, MN. The couple resided in Greenbush, MN until 1959 when they moved to Terrebonne, MN where they farmed and raised their family. Al also worked at the Beet plant in Crookston and for Detroiter Homes in Red Lake Falls retiring in 1982. He retired from work to a full time career of fishing and spending time at their cabin at Spring Steel Island on Lake of the woods.
Al enjoyed tinkering with wood, making crafts and trinkets. Al and Clara made three trips to Alaska to pursue the ultimate fishing. Al never hunted but enjoyed helping process wild game and the activities the went on in hunting camp. He was always ready for visitors to share his table and play cards following the meal. Most of all Al enjoyed his grandchildren and was family oriented.
Louis is survived by his wife Clara Efta of rural Red Lake Falls, MN: three sons Lou (Mary) Efta of Argyle, MN; Cary (Penny) Efta of Thief River Falls, MN and Pat Efta of Red Lake Falls, MN. 11 grandchildren Joseph (Mary) Efta, Jacob Efta, Joshua Efta, Jedediah Efta, Amber Efta, Kasia Efta, Louis Alex Efta III, Angela Efta, Alexander "Chris" Efta, Jarohmia Efta, Dustin Efta: 4 great-grandchildren Mercedes Efta, Jules Efta, Sonja Efta, Kasandra Efta. Three brothers James Efta, Edward (Leona) Efta and Raymond (June) Efta all at Greenbush, MN and two sisters Irene Walter of Lee Summit, MO and Theresa (Ernie) Vatthauer of Red Lake Falls, MN. Many nieces and nephews one aunt Elizabeth Wojciechowski of Greenbush, MN and one uncle Valentine "Bill" Blawat of Green Bay, WI.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one infant sister and one grandson Richard Jon Efta: brother-in-law James Walter and sister-in-law Bernice Efta.
