2nd Great-Uncle William was the son of Caleb Greenland (1811-1893) and Christena Curfman Greenland (1819-1893). He enlisted as a "Private" in the 16th Pa Cav., Co. M on October 19, 1862 in Harrisburg, Pa.. William mustered out as a "Corp" from Co. G of the 16th Pa Cav. on August 11, 1865 in Richmond, VA. William fought with his company at Gettysburg. He served three years in the service. William married Elizabeth Shue on April 7, 1872. They had the following children:
(1) Ida Rebecca Greenland Rickabaugh (1874-1951)
(2) John Irvin Greenland (1876-1963)
(3) Annie Blantina Greenland Coder (1878-1949)
(4) Tressa Jane Greenland (1881-1967)
(5) Samuel Harrison Greenland (1883-1942)
(6) James Beaver Greenland (1887-1887)
(7) Ethel Grace Greenland Murphy (1894-1980)
