Services were held Thursday, Mar. 18, 2004 for Sidney "Sid" Elcock who, having been in declining health, died suddenly at his home in Sioux Falls on Monday morning, Mar. 15, 2004. He attained the age of 69 years, one month and 25 days.

Sidney Claude "Sid" Elcock was born on a farm south of Lennox, on Jan. 20, 1935, the son of Claude and Sadie (Knock) Elcock. His mother died in child birth. He was cared for by his Grandma and Grandpa Knock until he was three years old and then he was raised by his father, Claude and step-mother, Grace. He attended rural school and graduated from Lennox High School in 1952.

On Mar. 2, 1956 Sid was united in marriage to Mayona Jongeling in Lennox.

Following their marriage they farmed north of Lennox for two years and farmed north of Parker until 1966. They moved to Hurley where he co-owned and operated the Hurley Fertilizer Plant for several years. In 1973 they started Sid's Farm Supply, which they operated for 21 years. In 2002 they moved to Sioux Falls.

Besides his parents and step-mother, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lendell and Myron Elcock.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Mayona; three children and their spouses: Marilyn and Mark Schempp of Sioux Falls, Douglas and Lois Elcock of Crooks and Daryl and Jan Elcock of Tea; five grandchildren; one brother, Adrian Elcock of Lennox.
