American motion director, producer and screenwriter. Oscar nominated and winning in 1960 for "Pillow Talk" (1959), as Best Writing, Story and Screenplay. Between 1942 and 1988 he wrote for 18 films and also he is best remembered for his motion pictures: "Nothing but Trouble" (1944), with Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy, "D.O.A." (1950), with Edmond O'Brien and Pamela Britton, "The Thief" (1952), with Ray Milland, "The Fastest Gun Alive" (1956), with Glenn Ford, Jeanne Crain and Broderick Crawford, "The Oscar", (1966), with Stephen Boyd, Elke Sommer, Eleanor Parker and Joseph Cotten. Russell produced between 1959 and 1960 several TV episodes. He married to Actess Beverly Michaels and was died in California at the age of 73.
