Rev. John Fletcher Burdine, b. Aug. 23, 1811 in Pendleton, Anderson County, SC. and d. Jan. 20, 1882 in Smithville, Monroe County, Mississippi &
Martha Ann McKelvy, b. Mar. 25, 1825 in Alabama and d. Dec. 6, 1896 in Verona, Lee County, Mississippi.

On Apr. 3, 1845, according to Mississippi Marriages, 1776-1935,
John F. Burdine and Martha Ann McKelvy were marr. in Itawamba county, Mississippi.

(This was a second marriage for John. He had been married previously to Adeline McKinney. They had four children: James Madison Ware Burdine, Susanna Amanda Burdine, William Murrah Burdine and Nicholas Burdine.

On Dec. 16, 1844, Adeline died.
Three and 1/2 months later, John married Martha Ann McKelvy.

The day after the death of his mother Martha, William came home from Chicago to find a robber in his house sleeping in his bed, per a newspaper article.
