After an illness of several years, Mr. Charles H. Kunze, a well known and one of the oldest citizen of Warren County, passed away early SUNDAY morning, August 13, 1922 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Schroer, 4 miles northwest of Holstein. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon, August 15. Services were held at the home and in the church at Holstein. Interment took place in the new cemetery at Holstein. The undersigned officiating.
The deceased was born April 22, 1840 near New Melle, St. Charles County, though all his long life, with the exception of one year, he lived on the farm belonging now to his son-in-law, Jul. Brewe 31/2 miles northwest of Holstein.
In March 1864 he was married to Miss Mary Schoppenhorst. This union was blesses with 3 children. One daughter, Mrs. Wm. Schroer, died January 21, 1898 and his wife preceded him in death April 5, 1905. Because of the unassuming and honest life be led Mr. Kunze was well liked by his neighbors and many friends.
