The Funeral Takes Place Saturday at Kviteseid Church

TOWNSHIP SUPERVISOR

He Owned a Farm in Section Seven, West of Milan.

Andrew Berglund died at 5:40 a.m. Tuesday, July 18, 1933, at the age of 62 years. He had been ill for quite awhile. His illness was first diagnosed as tumor of the spleen, but later it was found that cancer of the liver had also developed. It is not very long ago since the deceased was seen in town--cheerful as usual through carrying the evidence of wasting illness.

Mr. Berglund was born at Seffle, Wermland province, Sweden, March 30, 1871, the parents being Magnus Anderson Berglund and Christina nee Person. He came to Milan directly from his native land July 4, 1892, and engaged in farming.
He owned a farm in section 7, Kragero township, about 3 1/2 miles west of Milan, which is now run by his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Shelsta. It was at their home he died.

He was married to Mrs. Anna Kathrine Olson March 31, 1895. Eight children are living. They are Mrs. Sam Shelsta at the home farm; Carl, of Darby, Pennsylvania; Mrs. Anna Ahlers, of St. Paul; Melvin, of Kragero township; Mrs. Roy Piehl, of Renville; Miss Emma, of St. Paul, and Arnold and Leonard at home. Two children are dead, Anna and Vincent. He is survived by two stepdaughters, Mrs. J. R. Streed, of St. Paul, and Mrs. Ludvig Mork, of Milan. A sister lives at Thornwood, New York, and three brothers, Carl, Gustav and John at Seffle, Sweden.

Mr. Berglund has served his community as township supervisor for a number of years, an office he held at the time of his death. He has also been a member of the board in his school district.

He was a member of the Kviteseid Lutheran church at Milan. The funeral will take place Saturday, July 22, at 1:30 p.m. at the house and at 2 o'clock p.m. at the church where the Rev. R. R. Syrdal will preach the sermon.
