From Histories and Biographies of Van Zandt County, Texas Vol. 1, article written by Kitty Wheeler: "Between 1872 and 1874, a wagon train left Talledega County, Alabama on it's way to Texas. There were several members of the Chaney and McClellan families traveling with it. The Chaney's that came to Texas were part of the Benjamin Burgess Chaney Family. Prior to coming to Texas, they made thier home in Talledega County, Alabama."

Melfia age 37 born S. Carolina
William age 14 born Alabama
Thomas W, age 12 born Alabama

Mary Melissa McClellan married Benjamin B. Chaney on 20 Nov. 1833. She apparantly died before 14 May 1852 at which time, he married Margaret G. McClellan, Melissa's sister
