James Brassfield Dies in Houston
James Eugene Augustus Brassfield, Houston wood mill work operator, who lived on Whither Road, died at his home at 12 noon Sunday, Oct. 12 following an illness of about seven months.
Funeral services were conducted from the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ at 2:30 pm, Monday, Oct. 13 with the Rev. Elkin Heair officiating. Interment was in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery with Houston Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Brassfield was born in Chickasaw county on Oct. 1, 1925. He was the son of Elliott Brassfield and Ida Kathryn Blansett Brassfield. He was a member of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Gertrude Brassfield of Houston; two daughters, Lanice Brassfield and Vanessa Brassfield, both of Houston; his mother, Mrs. Ray Clemons of Houston; his stepfather, Ray Clemons of Houston; three brothers, Elliott, Rex and Claude Brassfield, all of Houston; three sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Mae Bufford, Mrs. Inez Dotson, and Mrs. Mable Gann, all of Houston.
