Allen R. Smith, 67, a lifelong resident of Fairmont, passed away Thursday evening (Dec. 18, 2008) at Fairmont General Hospital. He was born June 10, 1941, in Fairmont, a son of Anna Heck Smith Armstrong of East Liverpool, Ohio, and the late Allen F. Smith. He was preceded in death by his wife Bobetta Chenene Pickens Smith on Aug. 13, 2002. Mr. Smith was a sales representative for Wilson Ford Sales of Fairmont. He and his late wife Bobby were the owners of the former Fairmont Honda, Inc., which was located originally on Merchant St. and later on Rt. 73 South of Fairmont for many years. Allen had the longest running motorcycle dealership in the City of Fairmont and was a pioneer in the early years of motorcycle dirt competition in the tri-state area. He was also a former sales representative for Anthony Chevrolet of Fairmont. He was a life-long member of the Fairmont Free Methodist Church and a graduate of East Fairmont High School. He also attended Fairmont State College. Survivors include a son, Kevin Smith and his wife Cheryl of Mt. Pleasant, Pa.; two daughters, Yvette Wilson and husband Richard of Pleasant Valley, and Terra Simmons of Fairmont; a brother, Jeffrey Smith and wife Dina of Fairmont; and a sister, Marilyn A. Kelly and husband Ronald of East Liverpool, Ohio. Grandchildren include Korey, Kara Jo, Kody, Kolby, Makena and Troy Smith, Jossi White, Dalton Wilson, and Cameron and Tanner Simmons. Great- grandchildren are Bella Smith and Kinley Opas.Sisters-in-Law Peggy Nuzum and husband John, and Patti Wise and husband Dave, and Libby Pickens all survive of Fairmont, as well as several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont from 7-9 p.m. today, and noon-4 p.m. and from 7-9 p.m. Sunday. Services will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Monday with Pastor Carl Radcliff officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery and Mausoleum in Fairmont.
