OBITUARY: FUNERAL RITES TO BE HELD FOR PVT. ERNEST L. ANTHONY
Funeral services for Pvt. Ernest L. Anthony, U.S. Army, who was killed in action in Korea, September 8, 1950, will be conducted Sunday, February 3, at 2:30 at the graveside in Rappahannock Baptist Cemetery, Newland, Va., with full military honors, by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Northern Neck Post 7167 of Warsaw, Va. He was born at Hinnom, Va. On April 19, 1931, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Anthony.
The remains arrived in Fredericksburg, Va., Wednesday afternoon with Military Escort, who accompanied it to Sanford's Funeral Home, Montross, Va. The funeral cortege will leave the Funeral home at 2 p.m. He entered the service January 12, 1949 and went overseas with the 38th Infantry Division August 21, 1950. Besides his parents, he is survived by seven sisters, two brothers, and his grandparents.

Military Funeral services were conducted at the grave at Rappahannock Church last Sunday afternoon for Ernest Anthony, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Anthony of Hinnom, Westmoreland County, Virginia, who was killed in the U.S. Army in Korea in September 1950. The services were conducted by Rev. Treadwell Davison of Westmoreland, with military honors conducted by the Richmond and Westmoreland American Legion. Twenty members of the Legion took part with the Military Salute of nine guns, fired three times. This young man was born in the community and spent a part of his boyhood here. He was killed in action in Korea soon after he arrived there. The family and relatives have our sympathy in the loss of this young man.
Private Anthony was a member of the 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. He was killed in Action while fighting the enemy in South Korea on September 8, 1950. Private Anthony was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nation's Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Korean War Service Medal.
