ALFIERI, James E., Sr.
Passed away Sunday afternoon, January 5, 2003 at Borgess Medical Center, Kalamazoo. Jim was born May 7, 1925 in Kalamazoo, MI, the son of the late Charles and Afton Alma (Phillips) Alfieri. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army in the European Theater. Jim was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Paw Paw, and a hospice volunteer for Van Buren County Hospice. He was a devoted and active member as a service officer and distributing medical equipment for the American Legion, McGowan-Johnson Post #68, Paw Paw and a Past Commander and Adjutant for the V.F.W. McKinley-Wilson-Hall Post # 2532, Paw Paw. On September 20, 1986 in Paw Paw, Jim was united in marriage to Ruth (Jennings) Miller, who survives. Also surviving are 4 sons; 3 daughters; 1 grandson; 1 step-son; 1 step-daughter; 1 brother; 1 sister; many nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends Tuesday, 2-4 and 6-8 at the ADAMS Funeral Home Paw Paw. Services will be held Wednesday 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, Paw Paw with Rev. Richard Cushnie officiating. Interment with Military Honors will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to care for the needy veterans thru the funeral home or the First Presbyterian Church, Paw Paw.
