Son of Preston H. and America (Allphin) Bowman. He married ca 1880 to Sarah ________. They were the parents of 4 children; Carrie, Preston, Elizabeth, and Andrew.They separated ca 1900. He was brother of Elizabeth,Nancy,Mary, William H.,Maria L.,and John Andrew. He entered the volunteer forces and fought during the entire Modoc Indian Campaign (1872-1873). In his young manhood,he stampeded from one placer strike to another over the Oregon country.He was a part of the Yukon Gold Stampede in 1896 with a large pack train. He spent the rest of his life as a miner in the Fortymile,Circle and Fairbanks districts.He was a member of Pioneers of Alaska, Igloo #4, Fairbanks.
