Hugh was born near McGee, Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory Oklahoma as near as I can determine by his father's diary. As a young boy he and his older brothers helped their father work their crops, and those of others. He married Vera Alice McGuire on November 15, 1920 in Stratford. They had four children: Hugh Ivory (Jr.), Jerry Edward, Margaret Laverne and Harlen Edgar. He moved his family from Oklahoma to Los Angeles, California. Vera Alice died out there and he brought her home to McGee Cemetery and buried her. He remained in Oklahoma for a while and met Coy Mae Simpson Loman, they married on October 3, 1931 at Ardmore. They also had four children together: Paulette, Wallace, Myrna and Sandra. He died in Riverside and is buried by his second wife.
