Ruth M. Antes, of Ocean Grove, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. She had worked as an office manager in the billing department at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune for more than 17 years until retiring. She lived in Verona, then in Lakewood for seven years before moving to Ocean Grove in 1964. She enjoyed the privacy of her own home with her family and friends and she wintered at the Shore Lane Condos in West Palm Beach, Fla. with her sister, Helen Carroll, who died at age 92. Ruth was a graduate of Verona High School, class of 1936. Mrs. Antes was a member of Unity Church by the Shore, Neptune.
She was predeceased by her husband, Frederick Antes, in 1978. He was a career military man who served in combat in Germany and also participated in the D-Day invasion in Normandy, France. She was also predeceased by her son, Kenneth Antes, in 1999. Surviving are her daughter, Susan Antes of Richmond, Ky.; a niece, Barbara Daly of Tinton Falls; a nephew, Lawrence Carroll of Toms River; and her granddaughter, Anne Marie Antes, who attends Model Lab at Eastern Kentucky University, one of only 99 Model Labs left in the country and has two trainers in the sport of golf.
