He was born March 23, 1919 in Birta, Arkansas, the son of James and Mattie Boyce Parker. He attended Bartlesville Public Schools and served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946 and from 1949 to 1950 as a military policeman. He received the American Theater Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Ribbon and one service stripe.
Parker had retired as a warehouse technician at Tinker Air Force Base. He had lived in Shawnee since 1950 and married Ethel Johnson in 1953.
He is survived by his son, Terry Parker of Shawnee, brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Jenni Scruggs of Shawnee and W. D. and Juanita Scruggs of Splendora, Texas, sister, Vonda Stephens of Broomfield, Colorado and ex-wife, Ethel Johnson.
Preceding him in death were his father, James Parker, mother and stepfather, Mattie and Williams F. Scruggs, sisters, Nina Schweizerhof and Wanda Cochrane and brother-in-law, W. O. Stephens.
Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Chapel of Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home. The Rev. J. C. Farrand will officiate.
